Bruce Estey has 22 years of computer experience in both hardware and software. Bruce specializes in Storage Management for MVS systems and has extended his expertise to the networked environment, providing backup and recovery services for Windows NT and Novell Networks. Bruce joined IBM in 1982 as a 3081 Systems Test Technician in Poughkeepsie, NY, testing and debugging 3081 and 3090 mainframes before shipment. Bruce worked closely with Engineering to provide process improvements, which allowed expediting shipment of the mainframes. In 1986, IBM France requested that Bruce and 11 other technicians provide their technical expertise to assist in the shipment of 3090's. The technical assistance from him and the other 11 technicians allowed IBM France to ship the mainframes on time. Bruce joined the MVS Storage Management team in Poughkeepsie in 1987. He developed processes that were adapted by other MVS Storage Managers and automated many manual, storage management tasks. He implemented DFSMS, ABARS, RMM, and ADSM while providing day-to-day support of various MVS images in Poughkeepsie. He developed and taught an RMM class to IBM operational and support staff from Burlington, VT, Poughkeepsie, NY, Kingston, NY, and Southbury, CT. After leaving IBM in 1997, Bruce provided Storage Management services, on a contractual basis, for the Federal Reserve Bank in NYC, The Department of the Treasury in Puerto Rico, Citicorp in Delaware, and Cendant Corp on Long Island. He provided daily support and instruction to both new hires and other, experienced storage managers on new technologies and methodologies. Since Bruce has been associated with Mentor Services Corp., he has assisted in developing and has taught Tivoli Problem and Change Management.
