Lindsay Edwards

 

Lindsay Edwards joined Mentor Services in 1996 and since that time his primary focus has been in the Data Center Operations arena. He personally developed Mentor's Skill Inventory methodology. He was also the lead instructor on developing Mentor's Problem Determination (Hands-on Recovery Workshop) and teaches classes on a variety of Mainframe topics including JCL, TSO/E REXX, Omegamon Products, and Parallel Sysplex. In addition to his mainframe expertise, he created two classes specifically for Operations Support personnel on the subjects of Networking and Client/Server concepts. Lindsay has been an annual speaker at the AFCOM conference.

Mr. Edwards has over 34 years of computer experience, working as a computer operator, scheduler, network operator, shift manager, operations manager, instructor and operations consultant. From 1969 to 1988, Mr. Edwards worked in three Australian government departments, where he held positions ranging from computer operator to Director of Computer Operations.

From 1988 until he migrated to the USA in 1996, Lindsay worked as an instructor and computer operations consultant in the private sector, with Aspect Computing Pty. Ltd., a computer services company in Canberra, Australia. He was responsible for giving IBM mainframe courses on MVS Concepts, JCL, TSO/ISPF, Net/Master, REXX Programming and SNA/VTAM as well as creating and delivering training courses for entry level computer operators, senior computer operators and computer operations management.

A major project he was involved in during 1991 - 1994 required him to design and deliver data communications training courses for the Australian Department of Defence. Lindsay also gave UNIX and OS/2 training courses to the Australian Defence Department.

While at Aspect Computing, Mr. Edwards was also responsible for designing a Training Needs Analysis methodology which he utilized in consultancies he undertook in the Australian Department of Education and a Canberra utility company. He also undertook consultancies relating to the design of production control standards and procedures, network standards and the development of service level agreements. Mr. Edwards spent his last year at Aspect as manager of its Canberra Branch Education Department.
