Mike Myers

Mike Myers is the Vice President and cofounder of Mentor Services. He supervises the development and teaching of all of Mentor's mainframe courses and personally writes and teaches many of these courses. Mike originally conceived and developed Mentor's Data Center Operations certification program. He created all of Mentor's OMEGAMON product classes as well as the REXX and VSAM courses. He is certified by IBM to teach all of the Tivoli OMEGAMON and REXX classes as well as AF/Operator. In addition, Mike teaches Sysplex to future Sysplex developers at IBM locations nationwide.

Mike has over forty-one years of systems experience with a concentration in the design and development of Operating Systems. From 1964 to 1984 he was with the IBM Corporation where he designed and developed major components of OS/360, MVS, MVS/XA and VM/XA. Mike's research and design work at IBM contributed to several key IBM products, including MVS/XA, MVS/ESA, PR/SM, Data-In-Virtual, Cross-System Coupling Facility, Parallel Sysplex, PDS/E, HFS and VM/XA.

While at IBM, Mike taught OS/360 and MVS internals, as well as networking, VTAM, SNA, IMS, PL/1 and Structured Programming. As a consultant, he taught courses to several Fortune 500 companies on such subjects as MVS Performance Tuning, MVS Debugging, System Managed Storage, Structured Analysis for Real-time Systems, the System/390 architecture, VM/ESA and CMS.

Since leaving IBM in 1984, in addition to his teaching engagements, Mike has consulted with several companies, including IBM, Citigroup, General Electric Capital Corporation, the Morgan Bank, the Bank of Tokyo, Otis Elevator, and Pratt and Whitney Aircraft, providing expertise in the planning, design, maintenance and conversion of large systems installations. He was instrumental in helping Citibank implement much of their automated operations, working closely with their Automation department. Most recently he assisted in MetLife's CA7 to TWS conversion, and Novant's AF/Operator to IBM's System Automation conversion. He maintains an active "mentoring" relationship with several clients, providing direction in such areas as automated operations, storage management and system security.

Mike has been writing and teaching courses for over 25 years, both for IBM and Mentor. In addition to consulting, writing and teaching z/Series courses for Mentor, Mike acts as the systems programmer who maintains our z/OS, VM and Linux/390 systems.
