Introduction: OS/390 Serena's CompareX 8.2.1 is used to compare diverse file formats. Using a combination of lecture and hands-on workshops this course covers the features and benefits of CompareX, basic compare steps, data and text compare, formatting a Difference Report and creating a Delta File.

Audience: Application developers, system support, and users who know IBM MVS file formats and TSO/ISPF.

Objectives:  On completion of this course, the student should be able to:

  • Describe the basic functionality of CompareX
  • Use CompareX keywords.
  • Compare data files.
  • Compare text files.
  • Use parsing option.
  • Compare libraries and directories.

 Prerequisites: The student must have a basic understanding of TSO and MVS data storage.
