Introduction: File-AID for IMS is a general purpose IMS/VS database tool used to view, update, extract, and load data. This course presents the features of File-AID IMS. Its format includes lecture and hands-on workshops.

 Audience: Data processing professionals, including application developers, operations, operation support, and supervisors.

Objectives:  On completion of this course, the student should be able to:

  • Edit/Browse IMS DBs.
  • Use COBOL or PL/1 layouts for segment data.
  • Navigate through DBs using CHILD, TWIN, NEXT, etc., and print DB contents.
  • Create an Audit trail.
  • Extract and load data.
  • Initialize a new DB.
  • Access DBDs to define DBs.
  • Use static or dynamic PSBs.

 Prerequisites: The student should have the ability to use TSO/ISPF and File-AID MVS, and knowledge of IMS DB basics and functions.

Duration: This course is one day long.
