Implementing a Parallel Sysplex

Introduction: Beginning
with MVS/ESA version 5, IBM set the stage for the definition
and operation of a Parallel Sysplex® (system complex). The Sysplex
consists of two or more independent OS/390 systems connected through
a Coupling Facility, which makes it possible for these systems to
share key system operational and performance data. Most importantly,
the parallel sysplex permits the cloning of key applications (such
as CICS, DB2 and IMS) and distributing these clones across the sysplex
members. This provides the installation a new, high availability option
for these applications. Because of the data sharing between these
applications through the coupling facility, files can be shared with
update integrity, providing an application that has no single point
of failure. Objectives: On completion of this course, the student should be able to:

installing OS/390 systems or system products. |
